Altered Books 05-06
Altered books is an art form in
which existing books are reworked into works
of art. The existing book becomes
the canvas for the new ideas and images.
Sometimes words or images from the book
are retained as a part of the altering.
At other times the book is entirely
obscured to become a completely new idea.*
Ninth grade Studio Art students
created these Altered book spreads using
mixed media. Emphasis was placed on
good design with a strong focus on the
art principles Emphasis/Center of
Interest, Contrast, and Unity.
