Circles of Light
The circle is a symbol common
to many cultures and religions, and can symbolize
ideas such as heaven,
eternity, wholeness, and the cycles of the natural world.
Mr. Sacco's 8th grade art
students were asked to create a circular design that
emphasized their own
individual "inner light". Materials used were black
construction paper and white
color pencil. Students practiced working with
shaded values of white pencil on
black paper before attempting the drawings
seen here.
