mannequin Drawings
Ninth grade Studio Art
students created these drawing from observation. Students
first posed these figures and created a series of sketches using sighting
methods
to help guide them in proportion and angle of the models.
Students
then took their
best
drawings and arranged them in a pleasing composition
where emphasis,
repetition,
space and movement were to be considered. Next,
students learned to shade the basic forms (sphere,
cone, and the
cylinder) using
both graphite and charcoal pencils.
Finally, students shaded
their final drawings using either graphite pencil, or white
&
black charcoal
pencil. The objective was to use value shading to create the
illusion of
three-dimensional form on a two-dimensional surface.
Media: graphite pencils,
charcoal pencils, and pastel.
