Goldsworthy Project Ninth grade Studio Art students created these works after studying the work of environmental artist andy Goldsworthy. Focusing on the Elements and Principles of art, Goldsworthy uses natural materials. to create artworks that fascinate the viewer and are beautiful in their simplicity. Because of the nature of the work, these pieces are subject to the elements of nature and are only temporary. Gelinas students went on a field trip to the local pond to gather natural materials. Working in teams students created their artwork in the school's outdoor classroom. Students were asked to consider the Elements and Principles when creating their artwork.
The work presented here was
photographed immediately after completion. Within a short time the elements had
taken their toll on the artwork leaving only these photos as evidence of the
work.
