Cubism mixed-media

Ninth grade Studio Art students created these mixed media cubist inspired drawings. Students first made fractured contour drawings from life. Next, students learned to shade the basic forms (sphere, cone, and the cylinder) using both graphite and charcoal pencils.

Finally, students shaded their final drawings using either graphite pencil, charcoal pencil, watercolor and collage. The objective was to use value shading to create the
illusion of three-dimensional form on a two-dimensional surface and to create areas of interest through the use of contrast.
